• EXHIBITION THEME: WINE AND OTHER DELIGHTS
The theme of the 2006 Thessaloniki Book Fair is wine and other delights and their relationship with books. Throughout the fair there will be exhibitions of Greek and foreign books related to the theme as well as film screenings, discussions, wine tastings and readings by guest authors who have written about wine and other delights.

• TELLING TALES
We continue the journey that began last year, bringing the East and West closer together through encounters with the great storytellers of our times.
• GLOBAL FASCINATION WITH DETECTIVE FICTION
Detective fiction is constantly expanding its following around the world. The fair will feature an avant-premiere of a documentary about Greek crime fiction made by Arte, the French German TV channel. And there will be a discussion with leading practitioners of the genre.
• AGENT MEETINGS
Once again, literary agents from all over the world are coming to meet Greek publishers and participate in a round table discussion.
• CHILDREN’S CORNER: AESOP - TRACING FAIRY TALES BACK TO THEIR ORIGINS.
Ôhis year, young visitors to the exhibition (groups and individuals) will enjoy a journey to the magic world of the fairy tale through book presentations, creative workshops, storytelling, theatre and musical activities.
•BOOKS AND CINEMA: MOVIE DELIGHTS
During the exhibition, films based on novels will be screened at the Olympion theater complex in Aristotelous Square - films that reveal the sweet spice of life. In addition there will be meetings, discussions and movie screenings based on adaptations of exceptional books.

• WORKSHOPS
To bring the public to the heart of the book publishing process, these workshops will explore all the stages from the original conception, to the actual writing process, then on to all the stages of book production until the final product ends up in the hands of its readers, be they Greeks or foreigners, adults or children. They include a creative writing and a literary translation workshop (novels, theatre, poetry, and essays) that will take place in collaboration with the European Translation Centre (EKEMEL).
• LEARNING FROM THE EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE
Information about the current European programmes. Are you interested in what European organisations are doing to promote books and reading? Are you planning to create a cultural website? Do you publish or translate books on human and social sciences in the Mediterranean? Do you want to update your bookshop?
