• EXHIBITION THEME: TRAVEL
Since the time of Homer’s Odyssey, travel – the encounter with other cultures – has never ceased to fascinate. There are moments when we open a window onto the world, and others where we withdraw into ourselves. Now, as the twenty-first century ushers in a new age, it is good to read and re-read the world, leaving aside any prejudice, ideological baggage and falsehood. Novels, short stories, essays, comics, children’s books, albums and tourist guides to Greece and the rest of the world invite you to the main stand at the fair.

• LITERARY ENCOUNTERS: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HOMER
Get to know influential texts – Homer’s Odyssey (and its successors) and the Mahabarata. And meet authors who write about their own country and civilization, and those who embody the new trend called world literature.

• CHILDREN’S CORNER: AT THE CROSSROADS OF FIVE CONTINENTS
The Thessaloniki Book fair pays special attention to children, with 300 square meters of floor space devoted to children’s publishers and 450 square meters to events and activities for children of different ages. In 2007 we will invite young visitors to encounter the magic of travel and discover the rest of the world.

•BOOKS AND CINEMA: IMAGES THAT TRAVEL
In keeping with the travel theme, documentaries and films based on works of literature (for both adults and children) will talk to us about the world by showing it to us.

• MEETINGS FOR BOOK PROFESSIONALS
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE FEDERATION OF EUROPEAN PUBLISHERS (FEP)
Greece and the Thessaloniki Book Fair have been chosen to host the annual meeting of the Federation of European Publishers in 2007. We are expecting representatives of 25 federations from all around the Europe.

PANELS AND DISCUSSIONS
As usual, we will hold debates and discussions on timely topics that are of interest to book professionals, and we will present the latest statistics on Greek publishing.
